Taking care of your vehicle is not an easy task but neglecting such responsibility could bring additional expenses that you definitely don’t want to cope with.

As a matter of fact, carproblemzoo.com – a website that analyzes car problem reports and findings – has disclosed an updated list of the most common car problems in the country.

Using numbers that are updated on a daily basis, this website gathers data from vehicle complaints that American drivers have reported to the US Department of Transportation since 1996.

The analysis is relatively extensive since results were also classified by annual reports. For that reason, eTags has created an infographic that compiles the 20 most common car problems in the US as of May 9th, 2018.

Note that these numbers are updated on a daily basis, but you are free to use this information as a guideline when it comes to car issues and repairs.

Most common car problems in the US today

By looking at the infographic we find that engine and engine coolant issues rate the highest with 118,163 cases reported.

Typically, people have problems with their cooling system which could be prevented by doing regular maintenance checks.

You should pay thorough attention to your coolant system to diagnose any issue affecting your engine.

Whether your vehicle has been running too hot, overheating, or running too cold, it could be that something internally is not working appropriately.

For that reason, keep an eye on the temperature gauge, have a look at the check engine light, and try to spot puddles below the car.

Some symptoms are easy to identify and others are hard to tell but attention is required.

If the electrical system of your vehicle is faulty, you are definitely not dealing with a rare situation as this car issue ranks 2nd with 116,701 complaints on the list.

Your vehicle’s electrical system comprises the battery, battery cables, alternator, starter, and computer system. Having issues with any of these accessories can affect the proper functioning of your vehicle.

How do you know if your car has electrical issues?

There are key signs that could tell us when something is amiss with our electrical system including: problems when starting your vehicle, damage or leakage from the battery, dimming lights while driving, and/or broken brake lights.

Interestingly, seat belt problems ranks 17th with 14,086 complaints which is a critical issue that must be addressed for safety awareness.

Typical seat belt malfunctions include retractor problems, damaged webbing, and lock issues. Provided that your seat belts are not working properly, send them to an auto repair shop to have them rebuilt.

Are you paying enough attention to your vehicle? Do you have any car care maintenance or repair tips?

Have a look at our 20 most common vehicle problems and let us know whether you relate to any of these typical problems in the comments below.

This is a great article! Having an idea of the car issues helps you identify them easily and take the vehicle for a repair or mechanic servicing. Make sure the technician is qualified with attention to detail abilities and well-equipped with the latest technologies. These can ensure complete care and ultimate customer satisfaction.
