In addition to all the other types of things you have to do, updating your address with the Michigan Secretary of State is important to make sure documents like your license and registration reflect the updated information. Failing to update your driver's license address information promptly could result in suspension of your license!

As a Michigan resident, you can complete your driver's license address change request:

Online though the ExpressSOS system. You must provide the last 4 of your social security number, your license or ID number, and your date of birth and eye color. You cannot complete the request online if you have submitted a change of address in the last 10 days or ordered a duplicate copy in the same day.
In person at a branch office. You must come with the physical copy of your license or ID card. A sticker will placed on the back of your existing license or ID with the new address information.
By Mail using this printable form. It must be mailed to PO Box 30764, Lansing, MI 48909-8264 and addressed to Michigan Department of State

When you change your address using the mail or online option, a letter will be sent to your old address for verification. If you do not want that done, you must change your address in person at an SoS office.
