Safety

Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection

Night vision has been a technology that’s been used in cars for quite some time now. However, the pedestrian detection feature is a new addition to the technology. Pedestrian detection pinpoints and displays pedestrians on a dashboard built into your vehicle. This technology has been incorporated into the new BMW series vehicles.

Rear-Mounted Radar

Although rear-pointing radars have already been installed and used in automobiles as a way to detect objects that are statically positioned behind you, rear-mounted radars on the other hand are a new addition. These radars will alert the drivers of oncoming cross-traffic as you’re backing up. As vehicles approach, an alarm will go off alerting the driver.

Automatic High-Beam Control

For drivers that get tired of having to adjust the brights when approaching an upcoming vehicle, automatic high-beam control is the perfect tool. The automatic high-beam control uses a camera to slowly adjust the lights. This allows the driver to pay more attention to the road instead of messing with the high-beam switch to avoid disrupting on-coming traffic

Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive cruise control uses a built-in radar system located in the front fascia or grille of the automobile. The adaptive cruise control system will continuously maintain a safe distance between you and the automobile in front of you and will even come to a full stop if needed be.

Forward-Collision Mitigation

Forward-Collision Mitigation scans for objects on the road while measuring the data against your own automobile’s speed. If the system detects a possible threat ahead, the system alerts the driver with an alarm and by vibrating the steering wheel the driver’s seat. More advanced systems will bring the vehicle to a complete stop.

Advanced driver assistance system

Drivers will be notified of upcoming red lights, the speed limit of the road being traveled, the type of weather in the area where the driver is at, and many other options. Designed by Hyundai, this feature uses advanced driver assistance system technology and is extremely easy to use on a heads-up display.

Convenience

LiveView GPS

LiveView GPS allows vehicle owners to keep track of the whereabouts of their automobile and its driver (think parents and their teens!). After the system has been installed into the automobile, the system will automatically update a vehicle owner on the location of the car every 10 seconds. Vehicle owners can view the tracking data on any internet-enabled device like a phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop.

Autonet Mobile

Now drivers can install a 3G portable router in the trunk. This portable router creates a wireless internet connection within the vehicle. Manufacturers of these devices also claim that internet “blind spots”, like those that can arise when driving through a tunnel, are no match for the superior connection powers of a 3G portable router. A purchase of the portable router and data subscription is required.

Touchscreen Infotainment

This new technology consists of a large touchscreen that’s built into the center dashboard. A driver can easy control the audio, their phone, the climate inside the vehicle, the vehicle’s navigation, and the vehicle settings from this display board.

Parking Assistant

For those drivers that hate parallel parking, this technology will offer a helping hand. The system alerts the driver with a beep when they’re getting too close to another vehicle. Drivers can invest in more advanced systems that will actually park their automobile by itself. This system uses cameras imbedded in both the front and rear sections of the vehicle.

Auto Start and Stop

Automobiles tend to burn quite a lot of gasoline even when not in drive. The auto start and stop technology allows your automobile to save on fuel while also cutting emissions. It does this by turning off the automobile’s engine when the driver puts his foot on the brake to stop at a light, for example. Once the driver releases his foot, the engine will turn back on again and the car will drive once the accelerator is pushed.

Pick Me Up

This device is a BMW designed wristwatch that provides automated remote valet parking assistance on the go. This device uses laser technology to detect and avoid vehicles and other possible obstacles in addition to searching parking lots and garages for available parking once the driver exits the vehicle. The driver can then command the automobile to pick them up through the use of the smartwatch.

Lounge in the Car

A vehicle manufactured by Mercedes-Benz features lounge-in comfort for its driver and passengers. This is basically the Benz version of a self-driving car but with a hint of luxury. The car not only drives itself, but it features two front seats that can swivel out for an easier exit. That’s not all. The seats also swivel to turn around almost 180 degrees to face backseat passengers. The lounge experience.

Parking Locator

Drivers that have a hard time finding their car sometimes will love Chrysler’s ‘Where Did I Park’ technology. This feature allows the driver to locate the position of their vehicle on their smartphone. Not only will the driver see where their vehicle is on a colorful map, they’ll also be provided directions and the ability to sound the horn.
