In this article we’re going to walk you through a step-by-step guide on how to renew your New York vehicle registration online. Ready? Here goes:
New York Registration Renewal Online with eTags:
- Head over to our dedicated New York registration renewal page here and click the yellow Get Started button.
- Specify the type of owner the vehicle has. Your choices will be Individual or Company. For an Individual, you will be asked to provide the full first and last name exactly as it appears on legal documents. For a Company, please enter the full company name.
- Next, provide your vehicle information. The criteria here includes both license plate number and VIN (vehicle identification number, which can be found on your title, on the driver’s side windshield, and often on the lower outside of the driver’s seat.
- Confirm that the information you entered is correct. You will see the year and make of the vehicle pop up here. If the details do not match, you can return to the previous page and correct your entry.
- Here you will find a few questions pertaining to the condition of your vehicle. You will need to answer the following:
- Was the vehicle altered/stretched for more space?
- Has the vehicle been extensively wrecked, damaged, or destroyed?
- Has the vehicle’s frame been modified or any other modifications made?
- What is the seating capacity of the vehicle?
When your answers are complete, click Next.
- This is the space for your shipping address. Please fill in the details of where you would like your renewal to be shipped. You may be asked to confirm that the address your entered is correct. Please review it to be certain.
- Provide your contact information: both an email address and mobile phone number are necessary. You will also have the choice here to opt in to receive text message update and reminders.
- You’ve reached your order summary page. This is a good time to look over all the details of your order. You’ll see your contact info, your vehicle specs, a breakdown of your fees, and your shipping address. This is also the moment to add another vehicle to your order if you’ve got a second car that needs registration renewal. Please note that you can only add a vehicle for the same service, meaning, registration renewal. For all other services, please place a new order after this one has been completed. If everything looks good here, you can proceed by clicking Checkout.
- It’s time to wrap it up! Enter your payment details, take a peek at the bullets to the right (terms and conditions, charge authorization, and electronic signature), and when you’re ready, go on and click Pay.
Your New York registration renewal has been submitted! Provided that all your documents and details are in order, you will receive a digital copy of your renewal as soon as it is processed.
