Here’s A List Of Things You Should Never Leave In A Hot Car

Cars are great travel companions that stay with us for a considerable amount of time. Just because they are spacious doesn’t mean you can leave anything you want inside.

You should keep your car interior clean and clutter-free, especially during the summer season where the sun heat beats your car and things start melting.

Thus, the question is; what should you remove out of your car during hot weather?

Before you start decluttering your car, let’s start making a list of items that you should  and shouldn’t keep inside your car.

Once you read this article, chances are you won’t keep any food items inside your car like many other drivers tend to do. Watch out!

Don’t leave your drinks inside your car

Be careful with plastic leaching into your water as what you get out of it can be dangerous.

A study in the University of Florida reported that plastic water bottles release a chemical substance called BPA when exposed to the heat.

This BPA is associated with potential health risk that every driver should pay attention to. At the same time, taking hot water to go is not necessarily refreshing.

If you enjoy drinking water when driving your car, you are advised to buy a stainless steel bottle rather than using plastic alternatives.

Steel bottles keep your water cold, not to mention that it’s environmentally friendly.

Not every food item can be stored in your car

Sometimes it’s good to carry some snacks with you while driving, especially if you are going on a road trip with very limited time for breaks.

However, not every food item can withstand the heat during a hot day and you can easily tell because they start getting sticky or decompose.

You don’t want to keep cheese nor leftovers in a hot car because they quickly deteriorate. These type of food should be kept in your refrigerator.

Though, there are other food items like chocolate bars or candies that start melting and getting sticky after being exposed to the heat. For that reason, buy some crackers, nuts, or other solid snacks that can stand the heat.

Gym-goes keep your stuff at home or in your lockers

There’s nothing wrong with going to the gym or being an active person. You could even drive to your local gym with bag full of gym essentials.

The problem is when you leave your gym trainers and other sweaty clothes in your car for more than a day.

After getting back in your car, you’ll notice an unpleasant smell that nobody would like to be part of. Keeping your gym clothes inside also contributes to the spread of bacteria overnight.

Never keep your beauty products in a hot car

You don’t need to be a specialist to know that the heat often melts the makeup on your face. That’s the reason why you see some women fixing their makeup in the car before reaching their destination.

If you feel that you need to redo your makeup before getting to your destination, bear in mind that leaving your makeup items inside a hot car can work against you.

A good idea is to avoid keeping liquid-based makeup items in your glovebox in a hot day. It’s better to keep powder foundation or blush in your car as they are more convenient.

Always remember that not every item can be left inside a hot car. Whatever you choose to keep in your car, make sure you give it a thought.

Importantly, apart from the items we mentioned above, you must not, by any means, leave your pets or kids inside your car.
