Even when you’ve been driving your vehicle for a long time, your car may still be able to thrive at some extra miles by giving the appropriate care it deserves.

That said, here you’ll learn how to make your car last longer without even committing to something extraordinary.

Make sure your engine last longer

This is not even something to be worried about since all you need to do is use a high-grade filter and a pay a little bit more for high-quality synthetic oil.

This addition will take care of the oil’s fluidity without breaking down when the engine gets hot during the winter season.

Of course, you may be paying a bit more but you’ll ensure that your engine last longer, not to mention that a good filter can rid of any damaging particles from the oil.

Take care of the fluids

You don’t always have to follow the instructions on your car manual when it comes to car fluids. Instead, check your power steering, brake fluids, and engine coolant every 20 miles.

This will help you determine whether your car needs to be service before things get even worse. For example, any change in the color of your coolant may require you to change the fluid.

Similarly, try to change the transmission fluid every 35,000 miles or so, so you could use a more effective synthetic transmission fluid to ensure your vehicle is protected and last longer.

This approach will help you save on expensive repair bills to rebuild the transmission.

Protect your vehicle from the start

This applies to car owners who let their vehicles park overnight. It’s advisable not to start driving your vehicle right away.

As your vehicle sits in the garage, the oil settles into the oil pan keeping some parts of the engine without lubrication.

For that reason, warm your car for about 30 seconds and let your vehicle warm up without adding pressure to the engine. Following this simple habit will let the oil work without any risk.

Hygiene is key to survival

Washing and waxing your car really makes a difference regardless of how old your car is.

The winter season and snowstorms could cause your vehicle to rust, which has a greater impact on the way you look after your car.

Even your brakes could be affected by road salt. For that reason, focus on a winter car washing routines to remove harmful road spray and debris and go for a good waxing to keep protecting your car against salt.

Note that car waxing could also be useful during the summer season preventing sand and dirt to harm your vehicle.

Drive safely and avoid adding pressure

There’s no reason to unexpectedly accelerate or stop your vehicle at every light as if your vehicle is ready to handle anything at once.

Adding that level of pressure to your drive could cause your vehicle to age, forcing you to take it off the road way sooner than you expect.

Drive prudently and treat your vehicle right so you could expand its life without having to be concerned about how long you owned your vehicle for.

Are carwash establishments safe to run your car through? Some people have told me they’re perfectly safe for my car, and others say they will damage my finish.

Hello Tina. A car wash is always a good choice but you’ll need to make sure they are reliable. A good advice is to check their reviews online or talk to other people who took their vehicles to a specific carwash.
