Your car might not be your house but it’s still a place where much of your time is spent. It’s important to dedicate proper time to cleaning both the interior and exterior, and it’s similarly important to avoid costly details. A lot of car cleaning methods don’t need expensive over-the-counter products either. A lot of them can be powered by natural ingredients.

If you want a spotless ride, a full wallet, and a clear conscious, check out these 10 tips and tricks for a spotless ride:

10 Car Cleaning Hacks, Tips, & Tricks

Sparkle, Sparkle.

Baking Soda to Remove Odor

If your car smells, you can locate and remove the odor. That said, you should go easy on the harsh chemicals. Use baking soda, essential oils and a mason jar, instead. Poke holes in the jar’s lid, and keep it around while you check out the other car interior cleaning tips.

Toothbrush for Fine Detailing

Toothbrushes are great small-time cleaning tools. They can clean away gunk and crumbs, and they can reach deep, regularly unreachable crevices. Use your toothbrush to scrub the headrest, seats and dashboard. You’ll be surprised at the amount of grime you can remove.

Foam Paint Brush for Dusting

Dust is difficult to remove, and it frequently builds up in hard-to-reach areas. Use a foam paint brush, a vacuum cleaner and a little hard work to clear away excess dust. Go after the vents, and make sure you’re reaching the deeper areas.

WD-40 to Remove Sticker Gunk

If you’re like most people, you’ve had trouble with sticker gunk. Fortunately, WD-40 is a great sticker gunk removal tool. Next time you’re about to remove a bumper sticker, grab some WD-40. Spray it, let it sit and remove the sticker. If you’re facing extra gunk, re-apply the WD-40.

Clean the Dash with Olive Oil

Next, use olive oil to clean the dash board. Unlike normal cleaning products, olive oil is incredibly inexpensive. Simply rub it into the dash’s surface and wipe it away with a clean cloth. As with the bumper sticker, apply extra product as needed.

Use a Squeegee to Remove Pet Hair

Pet hair is one of the hardest things to remove. You can, however, lift it away by spraying some water onto the seats. Get the seat damp, drag a squeegee across the surface and lift the pet hair. After a few passes, you’ll clean up most of the hair.

Clean the Windshield Wipers with Rubbing Alcohol

As for the windshield wipers, you can do a good cleaning job with a little rubbing alcohol. Apply it to the wipers before gently wiping them clean. In doing so, you’ll prevent windshield smudging and smearing.

Clean the Wheels with Baking Soda

Baking soda is back and it’s being used to clean the wheels. Mix some baking soda and water, forming a paste. Apply it to the wheels, wipe it down with a brush and rinse the surface with water.

Clean the Carpet with Vinegar and Baking Soda

As another baking-soda-based tip, combine it with vinegar. This solution is among our best car cleaning tips and it’s perfect for cleaning car carpets without leaving an odor. The solution will make a paste—and the paste can be worked into any stained areas. Let the areas dry, let the paste stand, and vacuum it up.

Vinegar for Chrome Wheels

Finally, we suggest going at the chrome wheels with vinegar. Make a fifty-fifty mixture of vinegar and water, put it in a spray bottle and spritz it on the wheels. Wipe down the surfaces with a rag, and you’re good to go.

These car cleaning tips rely on natural solutions, so don’t worry too much about over-applying any solutions. You should, however, take care in wiping away any pastes with the best car cleaning hacks. With good aim, a keen eye for stains and a little effort, you’ll have your ride shiny, new and smelling cool in no-time.
