How do I renew my Florida registration online with eTags?
First, head over to the eTags dedicated Florida registration renewal page here. Then you can follow these clear steps that will guide you through your renewal application:

- Click the yellow “Get Started Here” button
- Select the service that best describes your current renewal need. Your options will be:
- Renew Registration
- Renew & Get Personalized and/or Specialty Plate (one of our favorite services, by the way!)
- Get Specialty Plate and/or Personalized Plate without renewal
- Here you’ll be asked to enter your vehicle information, including:
- Vehicle type
- License plate number
- Vehicle make
- Year of vehicle manufacture
- This is where you enter in your contact information. You will be asked to supply your telephone number and email address.
- A few more details about your vehicle are needed, so in this step you will answer the following questions:
- Has your registration been expired for more than one year?
- Is the vehicle leased
- Is your current license plate a Specialty or Personalized Plate?
- Now you will have the opportunity to choose to upgrade your registration tag to a Specialty/Personalized plate. And if you’re curious about this option, you can read all about Specialty Plates here!
If you opt for a unique tag, at this point you’ll have the chance to choose from over 100 different designs and themes including the possibility to personalize your Specialty Plate. And even if you are sticking with the standard FL tag, you can personalize that as well.

- At this point, it’s time to enter the details of ownership. You’ll be asked if the vehicle owner is an individual or a company.
- For an individual, you’ll fill in the owner’s first and last name as it appears on government-issued legal documents.
- For a company, complete the company’s full name along with the first and last name of the agent registered to represent the company in this transaction.
- Next, you can choose to renew your registration for a period of one (1) year or two (2) years.
- Now it’s time to enter your insurance information. You’ll be asked for the insurance provider’s name as well as your policy number.
- After your insurance details are entered, you are ready to fill in the address of the registered owner. This includes:
- Full legal first and last name
- Street number, city, state and zip code
If you need your new registration shipped to an address other than this legal address (if, let’s say, you’ll be travelling during this time…) you will have the chance you enter an alternate shipping address here.

After all these straightforward steps, you will land at your summary page. Here you can review your order, note the breakdown of fees, add another vehicle to your order (as long as the service is the same…meaning, another renewal) or add the option of a Specialty Plate.
If everything looks good here, you’re ready to check out. Your final page is the spot to enter your payment information, read terms and conditions, sign your electronic affidavit, and place your order. And that’s it. That’s how you renew your Florida registration online with eTags. Of course, if you need any assistance, please feel free to reach out to us at any time, because as always, at eTags, we’re here to help!
