50% late fee penalty if you don’t renew OHV registration on time
Dirt bikes are known as off-highway vehicles or OHVs. Dune buggies and snowmobiles are also OHVs. The CA DMV requires off-highway riders to renew their dirt bike registration every two years. Registration expires on the same date for every rider, on June 30th. If you don’t renew on time, you must pay a 50% late fee penalty. You must display an identification plate by CA DMV.

Title transfer and/or dirt bike registration CA
If you’re registering your dirt bike for the first time, know that you can do that online as well as title it of you don’t have official ownership just yet. In this case, you must complete an order for an Application for Title or Registration Form REG 343. You can use the manufacturer’s certificate or statement of original as proof of ownership or a bill of sale.
In case you lost your dirt bike title, you can request a duplicate title with eTags, known as REG 227
