Need a title replacement. Trying to get insurance in Michigan, bought the car in Florida.
A replacement title can only be ordered by the person(s) whose name(s) are on DMV record as the owner. If you completed the title transfer with the Florida DMV for the vehicle you bought in FL (meaning you are the person whose name appears on FL DMV record as the owner), then you can request a replacement title online with the FL DMV or eTags. If the transfer of ownership was never done with the Florida DMV and the vehicle is still in the seller’s name in the Florida DMV system, then only they can request the title. Once they get the title, they can sign it over to you which will allow you to then register and insure the vehicle in Michigan.
