So what do you do if you’ve misplaced a highly crucial document? What happens if you’ve lost or damaged your certificate of title? Or if it’s somehow been stolen…what then? Well, here at eTags, we’ve got you covered. If you live in one of the states we are happy to call home (Florida, New York, Maryland, Ohio, California, Connecticut), there’s a good chance we can provide a duplicate (also called replacement) title for you.
Today we’re going to walk you through a step-by-step process of how to order a placement title in the state of Ohio. Ready? Here goes!
- Head over to our homepage and select Ohio as your state of residence form the big yellow button.
- Choose “Replace Lost Title or Print Title Copy” from the menu and click “Continue.” You will notice that only legal titles vehicle owners or specifically authorized persons are permitted to request a replacement document.
- Next, confirm that you’d like to replace or print a copy of your title.
- Enter your vehicle identification number (VIN). If you don’t have this written down somewhere handy, this can usually be found on the dashboard or in the doorjamb of the driver’s seat side of the vehicle.
- Here you’ll be asked to provide information about the owner of the vehicle.
- The following screen you will enter in your legal address. Please note that this address is for shipping purposes only. Should you have moved since acquiring your original title and the document shows a former address, we are not able to change that information. For any official address changes, please contact the BMV directly.
- Now you will be asked for your contact details. Both a telephone number and an email address are required.
- Finally, you will have a chance to review your order and check that all your details look good. You’ll also have the opportunity to add a second replacement order at this time. This means that if you’ve misplaced two different titles, you can add the details of the second title and request a duplicate for that as well. Please note that multiple orders can only be performed for the same service. For any other services, you’ll need to place a different transaction!
- And here is the payment portion of your process. Once paid, we will get in touch with you for any other information needed and/or confirmation of your order.
And that’s it! With just a few simple steps you’re on your way to getting that all-important certificate of title replaced. Generally, if everything looks good, you can expect to receive your replacement within one week.
