Lucid’s New All-Electric SUV: How Does the Gravity Measure Up?

  • March 5, 2026
226 views
  • EV company Lucid Motors has unveiled its newest contribution to the world of electric high-end SUVs: the Gravity.
  • With a range of 450 miles on a single charge and a focus on luxury, the Gravity offers both performance and aesthetic appeal.
  • Though the Gravity has a few small tech glitches, this all-electric SUV is a true contender that rivals models from Rivian and Cadillac.

EV manufacturer Lucid Motors has recently unveiled their second major model release: the Gravity, a premium SUV with power to spare. As Lucid increases production, the Gravity is no doubt about to make its mark on the SUV market – a space rife with competition. Smartly designed, keeping in mind both aesthetics and performance, the Gravity offers a driving experience worth noting. That said, the vehicle does come with a few technical snags that detract somewhat from its prestige.

Why People Are Talking About the Gravity

This all-electric SUV stands out for its streamlined design and acceleration abilities – specifically 0-60 MPH in 3.4 seconds – making for a distinct combo of allure and capability. With a range of 450 miles on a single charge, it overtakes a number of vehicles in its class, and allows for significantly long journeys (think: Miami to Key West or Los Angeles to Las Vegas).

Add in the Gravity’s highly capable 123-kWh battery – the power behind that acceleration – and you’ve got yourself an SUV that could actually go toe to toe with some high-performance sports cars. With sharp steering and a healthy suspension, the Gravity maintains stability around corners while also navigating rougher urban roads with panache.

What’s the Inside the Gravity?

Lucid Gravity on the inside is all about luxury. This means the use of premium materials such as open-pore wood and buttery leather – a combination that creates an almost lounge-like cabin atmosphere. Its novel steering wheel, the “squircle,”  and broad windshield make for a spacious, futuristic kind of environment. And when it comes to technical bits, like the dual-display dashboard, Gravity showcases a cutting-edge approach. However, drivers may find some elements of the functionality a bit quirky. An example of such quirks is this: some of the vehicle’s basic controls are embedded in digital menus – fishing for them can prove a bit clunky.

Let’s Talk Cost

If you’re considering the Gravity for its obvious perks like its fantastic performance and luxe design, the price tag might not be an issue. Nevertheless, for many folks, cost is still a consideration. With a starting price of around $80,000 and a cap of approximately $124,000 (for the fully loaded Grand Touring version), the Gravity finds itself amongst other high-end counterparts such as the Rivian R1S, Cadillac Escalade IQ, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and Kia EV9. And of these rivals, many offer competitive features at costs that are slightly more digestible.

The Downside

While not a major issue when it comest to potential problems, The Gravity did demonstrate a snag with its key fob during testing: the occasional struggle to fully lock the doors. Of course, Lucid has released a software update made  to remedy this issue, these kinds of small glitches can negatively influence certain buyers who are looking for a stress-free, luxury experience in an SUV.

Conclusion

It’s obvious that the Gravity has a lot to offer:

  • Speed,
  • Luxury
  • Range
  • Cutting-edge technology

So for those folks in the market for zippy acceleration, innovative features, and a futuristic touch—and for whom savings aren’t a priority—the Gravity a viable contender. On the other hand, for people who are a bit more budget-minded, they may want to consider models like the Hyundai Ioniq 9 or Kia EV9.
