How To Transfer Title and Registration Online in Ohio
1. Gather your documents. The first thing you’ll need to do is have the necessary paperwork and information on hand. Here’s what you’ll need:
-
- The certificate of title. In the case of a sale, this will need to be signed over to you. If the seller has misplaced the title, they will have to order a replacement document and then sign it over.
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). This can be found on the title, on the registration, as well as on the driver’s side windshield, and sometimes on the driver’s left side seat base.
- Government-issued ID.
- Form BMV 3774.

5. Choose the state in which your vehicle is currently titled
6. Fill in legal owner details – this can be an individual or company
7. Provide the address that is currently on file with the BMV.
**If you’d like your new title and registration shipped to an alternate address, click the blue box below and fill in this address as well.
