Neutralizing Barriers
Stellantis – Dodge’s parent company – has been keen to make the Durango SRT Hellcat available to its fans across the board. Owing to this, announcements have been issued recently that reveal the Hellcat’s new, legal availability in ten additional states that follow California’s famously strict emissions standards. This is a quite a big step forward for Stellantis as they make their way through the ever-changing and complex world of emissions regulations.

Welcoming the Beast
As of today (November 12, 2025), the following states have welcomes the 710-horsepower SUV into their borders: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Virginia. How did this expansion come about, you ask? Well, perhaps it’s the result of the genuine endeavor to observe local emissions regulations while holding fast to the performance standards that the Hellcat community has come to expect.
Lingering Restrictions
Yes, the progress is marked and good, considering the influx of Durango Hellcats in so many more states. However, there are still seven states – California, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Washington – where the monster SUV continues to hang out on the unavailable list. The road that leads to full availability on a national level will ask for a sort of balancing act: one that supports both performance levels along with regulatory standards…and it looks like Stellantis is committed to meeting these challenges.

So, if you’ve been dreaming of purchasing a Dodge Durango Hellcat, but were prohibited by your state of residence, you may find that now’s the time to go out and get one. Of course, that is, if you live in one of the newly permissive territories. On the other hand, there have been a number of questions as to how this SUV has become available all of sudden and why those last seven states are holding out on letting the Hellcat in.
And it looks like we’re going to keep on wondering, as there seems to be mostly questions and few answers. Did Stellantis change something in the vehicle’s makeup to ensure its emissions compliance? Did they approach the challenge with more of a policy discussion? We don’t know. What we do know, is that for Hellcat enthusiasts, it’s a really good day!
