We thought we’d pop in and sprinkle your Christmas Eve with a few fun facts about cars and Christmas. Because these are two of our most favorite things here at eTags. Ready? Here we go…
One. This time of year is one of the busiest and best for buying a car. Why? Because of two factors that are related to one another:
- Sales
- Inventory reduction
Because dealerships want to clear out this year’s stock before the new models start arriving, they are often inspired to lay down some really good sales and incentives. Also, making room for the new fleet of vehicles helps dealers avoid paying extra inventory tax, so it’s a win-win for both buyers and sellers here!

Two. You know all those ads with folks receiving the ultimate gift: a car wrapped up in a big bow around the holidays? Well, there is quite a bit of truth to this depiction. The United States at Christmas sees approximately 20,000 cars being gifted – with those giant red bows too. Why? Not just because tis the season, but because of all the end-of-year sales and inventory clearing and general push to sell, sell, sell, the automotive market often will experience some remarkably low price tags.
Three. Those who travel to see family and loved ones will choose to drive their own car (as opposed to a rented one) and will also be willing to driver longer and further for Christmas than any other holiday. Maybe because it’s like the song says: “There’s no place like home for the holidays.”
Four. We’ve all probably seen those fun car decorations like reindeer antlers attached to the front windows or the red reindeer nose fixed to a car grill. And they are super fun. But for folks who like to take this festive spirit one step further and apply blinking lights to their ride, it’s good to know that flashing lights could pose a problem with the law in some jurisdictions. Colored bulbs, especially red and blue, are often reserved for emergency vehicles and should be avoided. If you’re the type to dress your car up to the nines, check in with your local DMV for any applicable rules and regulations so you can avoid any issues with the authorities.

Five. It’s become increasingly popular to families and friends to take Christmas rides in cars to see the lights around different neighborhoods. Rather than trudge through snow (which can be nice too, we know) lots of people prefer to stay cozy in their cars with a thermos of hot cocoa and take in the holiday scenery.
And there you have your handful Christmas car facts. We hope they’ve brought some joy into your day. And from our family here at eTags to yours, we wish you a beautiful Holiday Season!
