People make mistakes and that also includes traffic violations. If you are caught committing an infraction, you could see that reflected on your driving record.

It could also be that you were unfairly ticketed for an infraction you’ve never committed. In that case, you’ll need to handle that with court.

Either way, getting pulled over is not a fun experience so try to drive safely.

For that reason, here are 5 tips to avoid getting pulled over by the police.

Take care of your vehicle

Car maintenance is vital since you are responsible for ensuring your vehicle is 100% functional, including features.

If you are hitting the road with broken lights or missing bumpers, you’ll call the attention of the uniformed law enforcers.

As you don’t want to get pulled over by them, try to fix any broken feature with your local car mechanic. They are able to determine whether your vehicle is in good condition or not.

Avoid aggressive driving

One way to call the attention of police officers is to drive like a maniac. If you tend to drive beyond the speed limit, you better think it twice.

Law enforcers are always in search of those irresponsible drivers who negligently put people’s lives on the road in danger.

Typically, aggressive drivers do their best to get to their destination at the expense of other people’s safety. Be cautious and drive safely.

Follow the law

This is something we hear from the moment we sign up for a driving course to the last time we drove our vehicle. It’s mandatory that drivers respect the rules while on the road.

Police officers are there to ensure everyone complies with the law. If you enjoy speeding and/or driving recklessly, you should reconsider it because you may be breaking the law without even noticing it.

Note that distracted driving is another major reason for law enforcers to pull you over.

Check for speed traps

You may think you are driving under the radar but don’t be surprised if you were stopped by the police in areas where you least expected.

It’s advisable to be aware of speed traps. Many drivers use Waze to get information about potential speed traps based on the reviews from other users.

Another way to figure out where police officers hide is to check their vehicles around your area. Learn how they operate until you are able to predict where they are operating from miles away.

Never stress when you see a law enforcer

It may be the case that you are driving around your neighborhood and you see a police driving closely. If that ever happens to you, don’t be stressed.

Keep you cool and drive without making any aggressive movements, even when you believe you made a mistake. Don’t make maneuvers that could make you look suspicious.

If you spot a flashing light behind you, pull over safely and do what the police asks you.
