Greetings, Florida friends. If you’ve recently lost or damaged your license plate or sticker, there’s no need to panic. In this article, we’ll walk you through the few simple steps it takes to order your replacement quickly and easily online.

Before we get into this guide, it’s important to understand why replacing these items is crucial:
- It is illegal to drive a vehicle in Florida without a license plate
- It is also unlawful to drive with a license plate that is missing its validation sticker
- A license plate must be registered to the legal owner of the vehicle
How to Order a Florida Replacement Plate and/or Sticker Online with eTags
Step 1.
Visit our eTags homepage, select Florida as your state of residence from our pop-up menu, choose Replace Lost Plate or Sticker, then click Continue.
Step 2.
Select your vehicle type from the drop-down menu, enter your license plate number, then click Next.
Step 3.
Enter the vehicle make and year, then click Continue.

Step 4.
Provide the registered vehicle owner’s information. This requires the legal first and last name of the owner as well as a company name if applicable. Then click Next.
Step 5.
Choose the type of replacement you need. Your options will be:
- Registration and decal: Select this if you need a new validation sticker for your plate. You will also receive a new registration card.
- License plate and decal: Select this if you need a new license plate. You will also be issued a new decal sticker and registration card.
Then click Next.
Step 6.
Provide the reason for the replacement. Your choices will be:
- Damaged: Choose this option if your decal or plate has been damaged. If you received a citation, you can obtain the replacement for free if you turn in your damaged plate and decal along with a copy of the citation to your local tax collector’s office.
- Lost: This is for a lost plate or decal.
- Stolen: Choose this option if your decal or plate was stolen. If you filed a police report, you can obtain the replacement for free if you present a copy of the police report to your local tax collector’s office.
- Never received: Select this if your tag was renewed by mail or online within the last 180 days and have not received it. If qualified, you will receive a partial refund of fees.
After you’ve made your selection, click Next.

Step 7.
Enter your auto insurance details. You will need to fill in the provider name as well as your policy number. Then click Next.
Step 8.
There are two sections to complete here.
- Fill in your address. This must match the mailing address that appears on your registration documents. If you’d like your replacement to be shipped to a different address, click the blue box and enter the alternate address as well.
- Enter your email address and mobile phone number. Then click Next.
If necessary, you may be asked to confirm the details of your mailing address. Please review this and click Next if it looks good. Otherwise, click Back to make any corrections.
Step 9.
If you have a second vehicle that needs a replacement plate or sticker, you can add it here. Otherwise, please look over your order details and then click Checkout to proceed.

Step 10.
Take a moment to read our terms and conditions, enter your payment details. You’ll have three different payment options for your convenience:
- Credit card
- PayPal
- Affirm
Choose the option that suits you best, and when you are ready, click Pay. And your replacement has been ordered!
