In Person Driver’s License Renewal
There are over 80 BMV locations throughout the state of Ohio and they handle all drivers license renewals. So even if you live out in the country, there is likely an office not too far from you. The offices can be busy, so leave yourself an hour to get the job done.
Most offices are open 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. Make sure to check ahead of time as holidays may affect their hours. If you need an exam for reinstatement, the hours are much more restricted and only certain locations conduct testing.
Required Driver’s License Renewal Fees
How much does it cost to renew your driver’s license in Ohio?
The current fee to renew your driver’s license in Ohio is $25.75. The Ohio DMV driver’s license renewal agencies accept cash, check, money order or credit card.
After paying required fees and completing the renewal process, your license will be valid for four years unless you renew it more than 90 before it expires. In this case, your license will be valid for three years.

Unfortunately, Ohio does not have an online portal for processing drivers license renewals. You must take your form down to the BMV branch in person. - Date of birth
- Social Security number
