Whether you\u2019re looking for exploration, a calm Saturday cruise or a\u00a0Sun Coast\u00a0Parkway adventure, these bike paths in Florida\u00a0guaranteed to offer a smooth time. Even if you\u2019re using a \u201cbike trails near me\u201d search on Google, you should know about these rad rides.<\/p>\n<h2>The Upper Tampa Bay Trail<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillsboroughcounty.org\/en\/locations\/upper-tampa-bay-trail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Upper Tampa Bay Trail<\/a>\u00a0is a seven-mile trail spanning across Citrus Park and Town N\u2019 Country. It follows an old railroad corridor, featuring some awesome displays like a suspension bridge. The trail crosses the Town \u2018N Country Preserve, Rocky Creek and a few other cool paved bike paths.<\/p>\n<h2>The\u00a0Sun Coast\u00a0Trail<\/h2>\n<p>This whopper is 42 miles long. It\u2019s awesome for a leisurely ride, too, featuring plenty of educational landmarks. It also has a lot of resting spots.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pascocountyfl.net\/index.aspx?NID=673\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The\u00a0Sun Coast\u00a0Trail<\/a>\u00a0is great for beginners, and it has a number of species identification signs providing background on the trail\u2019s many animal residents.<\/p>\n<h2>The Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail<\/h2>\n<p>Both rural and re-paved, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.coj.net\/departments\/parks-and-recreation\/recreation-and-community-programming\/parks\/jacksonville-baldwin-rail-trail.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail<\/a>\u00a0is maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation itself. If you\u2019re taking a stroll, check out its natural habitats. Expect to see wetlands, flat woodland areas\u00a0and hardwood uplands. If you\u2019re lucky, you might see some turkeys, turtles, hawks, snakes or deer.<\/p>\n<h2>The Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail<\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridastateparks.org\/trail\/Gainesville-Hawthorne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail<\/a>\u00a0is 16.5 miles long, extending from\u00a0Boulware\u00a0Springs Park in the City of Gainesville. It\u00a0<em>also<\/em>\u00a0runs through the\u00a0Paynes\u00a0Prairie\u00a0Preserve State Park, making it one of the more scenic trails on our list. Or, check out some\u00a0Paynes Prairie\u00a0overlooks.<\/p>\n<h2>The West Orange Trail<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orangecountyfl.net\/CultureParks\/Parks.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The West Orange Trail<\/a>\u00a0is much-loved by novice and experienced bikers alike. It\u2019s a world-class rail trail which goes through suburban and urban Orange County locations alike. If you\u2019ve ever wanted to check out Winter Garden, the West Orange Trail is your best bet. Featuring bicycle-art sculptures, restaurants and bike shops, the West Orange Trail is one of the coolest Florida bike trails around, and it\u2019s a must-see before you hit the bike paths in south Florida.<\/p>\n<h2>Pinellas Trail<\/h2>\n<p>We won\u2019t lie:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinellascounty.org\/trailgd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Pinellas Trail<\/a>\u00a0is a monstrous, 38-mile-long trek. It\u2019s rewarding because of its scenic coastal areas and awesome residential neighborhoods. A member of the Rail-Trail Hall of Fame, Pinellas Trail packs a ton of historical landmarks, trailside amenities and unique riding spots. If you\u2019re checking out some southwest Florida bike trails, head north to the Pinellas Trail.<\/p>\n<h2>The Sanibel Island Trail<\/h2>\n<p>Who\u00a0doesn\u2019t want to go on an island bike ride?\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanibeltrails.com\/sanibel-bike-paths.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Sanibel Island Trail<\/a>\u00a0is 22 miles long, bringing riders through wildlife refuges, natural beaches, restaurants, gardens and shopping centers. Even if you\u2019re not a tourist, you\u2019ll\u00a0<em>love<\/em>\u00a0the trail\u2019s awesome destinations.<\/p>\n<h2>The Tallahassee-St. Mark\u2019s Historic Railroad State Trail<\/h2>\n<p>We feel northern Florida needs some love, too. If you fear the hot weather, head up to the state\u2019s capital. Have breakfast in Tallahassee, and take its bike trail over to St. Marks for a seafood lunch. It\u2019s a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridastateparks.org\/trail\/Tallahassee-St-Marks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">20.5-mile-long trail<\/a>, but it offers a lot of history. It also connects to the Apalachicola National Forest.<\/p>\n<h2>The Nature Coast State Trail<\/h2>\n<p>It might be 32 miles long, but the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridastateparks.org\/trail\/Nature-Coast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nature Coast State Trail<\/a>\u00a0sprawls across a number of great destinations. It connects the communities of Trenton, Cross City,\u00a0Chiefland\u00a0and Fanning Springs. It also crosses the Suwannee River and a number of Trenton train stations.<\/p>\n<h2>The Shark Valley Trail<\/h2>\n<p>Our top trail is the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/ever\/planyourvisit\/shark-valley-trails.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shark Valley Trail<\/a>. Ironically, you won\u2019t find any sharks here. You\u2019ll find plenty of American alligators, though. You\u2019ll bike around them, checking out the\u00a0Miccosukee\u00a0Indian Reservation just west of Miami. It\u2019s a 14.5-mile-long paved loop, featuring observation towers, the Otter Cave Hammock Trail and The Bobcat Boardwalk. For this reason, it\u2019s one of the best bike trails in south Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Pick up your bike, pack some food and make sure you\u2019re hydrated! Florida biking gets hot. If you\u2019re brave enough, check out the Shark Valley Trail and visit some alligators. Otherwise, stick with the other trails.
