A quick perusal can make all the difference when it comes to having a happy, healthy, and stress-free travel season. Ready? Here goes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><u>How To Travel Safely During the Holidays.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Pre-Trip:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Know your route: <\/strong>This might sound like a no-brainer, especially since everybody and their mom has GPS, Google Maps, Waze, or something similar with them as they travel. However, it\u2019s a good idea to have an idea before you get in the car and plug in the address of your destination. Even just glancing at the map for a quick visual can help your brain while actually driving. A little planning can go a long way particularly if you open that map app only to encounter detours and reroutes. You may even want to pop into a mechanic to give your ride a once over. But if you\u2019re checking your car on your own, here are some elements to keep in mind as you go through your maintenance checklist:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oil and other fluids<\/li>\n<li>Brakes<\/li>\n<li>Tire pressure<\/li>\n<li>Windshield wipers<\/li>\n<li>Head and taillights<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Create an Emergency Kit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No one wants to get stuck at the side of the road, ever. But if you do for some reason, there are a few things that can help save the day. You may want to consider a kit that has the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Water<\/li>\n<li>Blankets<\/li>\n<li>Snacks<\/li>\n<li>Flashlight + batteries<\/li>\n<li>A first-aid kit (here\u2019s OSHA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/laws-regs\/regulations\/standardnumber\/1910\/1910.266AppA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recommendation)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Fully charged phone power bank<\/li>\n<li>Jumper cables<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Get Your Zzzz\u2019s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019ve ever driven while tired, you know this is one of the worst experiences\u2026not to mention incredibly dangerous. So make sure and get some good rest the night before you\u2019re due to travel. A well-rested driver is an alert, careful, relaxed driver.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Mid-Trip:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Stay Sober<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any alcohol (or other substances) is too much if you plan to get behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. Save the texts, emails, and social media for when you arrive.
