Another set of Jeep lovers like to claim that the seven slots symbolize the seven continents, highlighting Jeep\u2019s global military presence. While this too could be possible, again there is no official documentation from Willys-Overland or any adjacent entities that give this claim any real validity. The “continental” theory, while inventive, is likely more the stuff of fan legend than fact.<\/p>\n

The most logical explanation for the change in grille dimensions is probably one of practicality. During the shift from military\u00a0 to civilian models, Jeep swapped out its original headlights and replaced them with larger 7-inch headlights. This change would have been purely for practical and aesthetic reasons.
