Welcome back to our favorite series: the Florida Specialty Plate Spotlight Series. <\/strong>If you\u2019re new to this ongoing feature here on the blog, we\u2019ll catch you up on all the ins and outs of what a Specialty Plate is, and why we think they\u2019re so cool. Without further ado\u2026<\/p>\n

The Florida Specialty Plate Program is offered by the Florida DMV, otherwise known as the FLHSMV.<\/p>\n

The program offers Florida vehicle owners the opportunity to select from over one hundred Specialty Plates instead of the conventional Florida state tag.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This means that when it comes time to register your car, truck, or SUV, you have the choice to upgrade to a fun plate. Now, seeing as how there are over one hundred different designs and themes to flip through, there\u2019s a good chance you will find a motif that speaks to you in one way or another. Some very popular themes are Endless Summer<\/a> (141,762 tags in circulation), Helping Sea Turtles Survive<\/a> (112,091 in circulation), and Miami Heat<\/a> (87,940 in circulation). But there are so many other styles that include supporting law enforcement, education, environment, animal rights, health, sports, and more.<\/p>\n

This is great if you\u2019re on the market for a little extra flair on your car, of course, but there\u2019s actually more to the Specialty Plate than just a pretty face. You see, behind every plate there is a worthy cause. With the purchase of a Specialty Plate you are directly supporting a foundation or organization connected with the plate. And so adding some flash to your ride ultimately means giving back to people, animals, the environment, and society. \"University<\/p>\n

Take today\u2019s spotlight tag: University of Florida.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Whether this is your alma mater, the school where your kids or nieces are studying, or just an institution that vibes with you, in purchasing the University of Florida plate, you are in turn helping to contribute to the University of Florida Foundation<\/a> (UF Foundation).<\/p>\n

And what\u2019s more, you don\u2019t have to wait until you\u2019re registering a vehicle for the first time in order to get a Specialty Plate. And you don\u2019t have to wait until your registration is up for renewal. You can decide to get fancy with one of these fun tags at any<\/em> time at all. Cool, right?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s really straightforward: head over to our handy site,<\/a> select Florida as you\u2019re your state from our drop-down menu, and then choose the option that best suits you. You\u2019ll notice that there is also the possibility for a personalized plate here. That\u2019s because you can make this tag your own if you like. As long as the FLHSMV approves of your letter\/number combo, you can really leave your mark on the University of Florida Specialty Plate!<\/p>\n
