Ride to Work Day, an annual event held on the 3rd<\/sup> Monday in June, is a day dedicated to demonstrating the positive qualities that motorcycles and scooters have to offer. If you do not own a motorcycle or scooter, it might make sense to at least give one a try since they are an enjoyable form of transportation, economical, efficient, and more environmental friendly than automotive transportation.<\/p>\n

First, A History Lesson<\/h2>\n

Between 1989 and 1991, Aero Design and Manufacturing Company, a motorcycle riders clothing manufacturer out of Minnesota, created a set of marketing tools titled “Work to Ride – Ride to Work\u201d. Motorcycle magazine editor Fred Rau was so inspired by these marketing tools that he decided to write an article that called for a national Ride to Work Day. Following Rau\u2019s article, Aerostich RiderWear designed a t-shirt that displayed the phrase ‘Work to Ride, Ride to Work\u2019 on the front of it. Individuals around the country all thought the idea was pretty awesome.<\/p>\n

For several years, Ride to Work Day had already been promoted by many businesses including Road Rider Magazine, Dunlop Tires, and Aerostich\/Riderwearhouse. However, on July 22nd<\/sup>, 1992, motorcycle and moped drivers from around the country participated in the very first Ride to Work Day event.<\/p>\n

In 2000, a non-profit organization called Ride to Work<\/a> was created with the purpose of organizing and promoting this nationally celebrated event. The first event promoted by Ride to Work took place on a Wednesday in July of 2001. That was the official date until 2008 when the annual date was changed to the 3rd<\/sup> Monday in June. Today, motorcycle and moped riders look forward to this day every year.<\/p>\n

Throughout the years, Ride to Work Day has been changed and updated to accommodate to allow riders all over the globe<\/a>. This day has and continues to provide the opportunity for more riders to get involved and participate.<\/p>\n
