We hope you all had a nice and meaningful Juneteenth holiday, and welcome back to our eTags blog. This is the space where we cover all things tag and title related, as well as all things automotive related. We like to cover ground, you might say\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Today we\u2019re going over a few traffic laws that have taken effect this year in the state of Connecticut. You know us\u2026we like keeping current with the ever-changing world of automobiles\u2026<\/p>\n<h2>Here are the top new regulations implemented in the Constitution State for 2025.<\/h2>\n<p>(This list is current as of June 2025 and of course, is subject to change based on Connecticut\u2019s right to impose any developments as they see fit.)<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cga.ct.gov\/asp\/cgabillstatus\/cgabillstatus.asp?selBillType=Bill&which_year=2025&bill_num=7260\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Bill 7260<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This bill, which is also referred to as \u201cAn Act Concerning Excessive Reckless Driving,\u201d was passed in the Connecticut House of Representatives earlier this year. --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 800\/534;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The new penalties for violations of the law are distinctly more severe than previous ones, and include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$200-$600 fine for a first offense, up to 30 days prison sentence, or both<\/li>\n<li>Up to $1000 fine and 364 days prison sentence, or both for a subsequent offense<\/li>\n<li>Up to 48 hours of vehicle impoundment at the owner\u2019s expense<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cga.ct.gov\/asp\/CGABillStatus\/cgabillstatus.asp?selBillType=Bill&bill_num=HB7132\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Bill 7132<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here we have what is called \u201cAnd Act Concerning Non-Safety-Related Traffic Stops, Driving While Consuming Cannabis, and Excessive Reckless Driving.\u201d The aim of this bill is to clarify particular statutes regarding traffic stops on account of cannabis usage, properly displayed number plates, lamps and illuminating devices, windshield matters, and registration issues.<\/p>\n<p>Some penalties related to the cannabis portion of the bill are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drivers who smoke, inhale, or ingest cannabis face a Class C misdemeanor with up to three months in prison, a $500 fine, or both<\/li>\n<li>Passengers who smoke, inhale, or ingest cannabis face a Class D misdemeanor, a $250 fine, up to 30 days in prison, or both<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25724 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-800x533.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-800x533.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-1160x773.jpeg 1160w, https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-1536x1024.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-2048x1365.jpeg 2048w, https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-120x80.jpeg 120w, https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-90x60.jpeg 90w, https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-320x213.jpeg 320w, https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-560x373.jpeg 560w, https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-1920x1280.jpeg 1920w, https:\/\/www.etags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/AdobeStock_150310400-1-scaled.jpeg 780w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 800px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 800\/533;\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any driver or passenger of a motorcycle who is under 21 years old is obligated to wear a protective helmet<\/li>\n<li>Bicycle operators under 18 are required to wear protective helmets<\/li>\n<li>Drivers may not linger in the left lane if not used for passing<\/li>\n<li>Research and further define \u201celectronic mobile device\u201d as it pertains to driving<\/li>\n<li>Require reflective paint on highways<\/li>\n<li>Allow for the reporting of unsafe driving<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And these are the recent developments in the world of traffic and street safety in the state of Connecticut.
