For all the topics we discuss here on the eTags blog, we generally keep things relevant, of the moment, applicable to the daily lives of drivers and pedestrians, and any other beings sharing our roads.\u00a0 As you know, we are experts at getting your vehicle tagged and titled<\/a> post haste.\u00a0 But we also love to keep up with all<\/em> things automotive related.<\/p>\n

Meaning, although we\u2019re here to help you get your vehicle roadworthy – at superspeed – while keeping you away from long lines and missed appointments, we can\u2019t help but get our noses stuck into rules, regulations, and trends.\u00a0 And while many of these last three can be quite focused and serious, today we\u2019re going to lighten up our generally amiable mood even further.<\/p>\n

Today, ladies and gentleman, we are going to highlight some of the weirdest, most bizarre – seemingly false, but apparently true \u2013 laws that exist in the good old U S of A. These are actually fun, and we had a pretty good time compiling these points. Okay, ready?\u00a0 We are too!<\/p>\n

In no particular order, here goes:<\/h2>\n

In the state of California, it is illegal for women to drive a car while wearing a bathrobe. Nope, we\u2019re not kidding.\u00a0 Women are forbidden to take the wheel if they are wearing any sort of dressing gown or robe.<\/p>\n

\"Woman<\/p>\n

In the state of Florida, it is illegal to park your vehicle on top of a grave inside a cemetery.\u00a0 \u00a0In case you were planning on this, know that you will have to make other plans!<\/p>\n

In Maryland, if someone hears you cursing or expressing any sort of rudeness while driving, you could face not only monetary fines, but actually being charged with a misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

Out on Long Island, in the state of New York, the town of Sag Harbor has made it illegal to drive while nude.\u00a0 Kids, you gotta put on at least a pair of underpants if you\u2019re going to cruise around this town!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If you\u2019re driving in an area of the state of Wyoming where there are gates, and you either find one open, or you happen to open a gate, you are required to close that gate, or you could face fines of up to $750.<\/p>\n

In the town of Marietta, Georgia, it is illegal to spit out the window of a car or bus. However, if you happen to be driving a truck, spitting is perfectly allowed. Go figure!<\/p>\n

\"Man<\/p>\n

Apparently, there are so many comic book fans in the state of Oklahoma, that authorities had to ban the reading of comic books whilst operating a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

The state of Alabama, for reasons we could not source, has made an explicit law stating that it is forbidden to drive while blindfolded.\u00a0 We like this law.\u00a0 Why it had to become<\/em> a law, we may never know.<\/p>\n

In case you\u2019re a speed demon, it might be fun to note that in the state of Virginia vehicle speed and radar detectors are illegal.\u00a0 So you might want to let up on that lead foot, eh?<\/p>\n

Perhaps having nothing to do with Atlantic City at all (wink, wink), the state of New Jersey has put a prohibition on acquiring vanity plates for any person who has been issued a DUI in the past ten years.\u00a0 How\u2019s that for a talking down.<\/p>\n

To the dismay of children across the city of Indianola, Iowa, it is forbidden for any vehicle at all to sell ice cream.\u00a0 Kids, you will have to visit another town to hear the sweet siren call of the ice cream truck in summertime\u2026<\/p>\n

\"Ice<\/p>\n

To the relief (we imagine) of potential taxi customers in Albuquerque, New Mexico, it is illegal for cab drivers to manually pull clients into their vehicles.\u00a0 Thank goodness, eh?<\/h2>\n

In the state of Utah, it\u2019s not just other automobiles or pedestrians that might have the right of way.\u00a0 In Utah, drivers are required to stop for geese and other bird friends.<\/p>\n

The state of Tennessee has made it an actual law that it is unlawful to sleep whilst driving.\u00a0 Good job, TN\u2026we agree!<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re in the state of Missouri, beware that it is illegal to honk the horn of someone else\u2019s car.\u00a0 So, no passenger or backseat driving for you, mister.<\/p>\n

The town of Westminster, Colorado has banned pacing.\u00a0 Well, in a car anyway. It is illegal in this town to drive past the same location three times within three-hours.\u00a0 Time for a new route, huh.<\/p>\n

In the state of Nevada, you are expressly forbidden from riding a camel on public highways.\u00a0 And furthermore, your pet camel is not allowed to roam said highways alone either.\u00a0 Camels are banned on Nevada highways\u2026since the 1800\u2019s!<\/p>\n

\"Camel<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re heading to Hilton Head, South Carolina, you best be clean, friend.\u00a0 The town prohibits any garbage from being visible inside your vehicle.\u00a0 Because, yes, people are peering into your windows!<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll have to stay tidy in Minnetonka, Minnesota as well: driving a dirty, muddy vehicle in this town is considered a public nuisance.<\/p>\n

Regardless of how hungry you might be, the state of West Virginia has declared it illegal to eat roadkill.\u00a0 In case you were considering it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The state of Massachusetts has passed a law banning humans from transporting gorillas in the back seat of their vehicles. So, leave your gorilla at home, ok?<\/p>\n

And on the subject of animals, Anchorage, Alaska prohibits you from strapping your dog to the roof of your car. Don\u2019t even consider it.\u00a0 Law or no law, right?<\/p>\n

In Illinois, you are forbidden from driving a car without a steering wheel. We\u2019re not sure how\u2019d you\u2019d manage that anyway, but just in case, it\u2019s illegal!<\/p>\n

Shall we keep going? We sort of want to, because this is pretty dang fun, if you ask us.\u00a0 But we\u2019ll take a pause to remind you that we\u2019re actually here to serve!
