So, remember that dark time, not too long ago, when there were like no<\/em> cars available?\u00a0 Those couple years when no matter how badly you wanted to purchase a car, truck, SUV, or RV, there simply weren\u2019t enough to go around.\u00a0 And how if you did<\/em> manage to find the vehicle you wanted, chances are you were asked to compromise in some unholy way \u2013 say, forgo some special features, opt for a pre-owned version, or pay a whole lot more than the MSRP was just a few months before.<\/p>\n

Yep, we remember this too.\u00a0 The scramble across the United States to grab a new set of wheels, only to end up mightily disappointed in one way or another.\u00a0 Those poor auto manufacturers\u2026they just could not keep up with the surging demand of the populace.\u00a0 But, like all things in life, the shortage could not last forever.\u00a0 And here at eTags, we are happy to report that the numbers of available vehicles for purchase have just about returned to normal.<\/p>\n

\"Reading<\/p>\n

In celebration of our automotive industry staging its comeback, we were curious to see which cars have been seeing the bulk of this resurgence. We wanted to know which makes and which models have proven to be the best-selling cars\/trucks\/SUV\u2019s this year.\u00a0 And while we know that the year is still only at the halfway mark, still, the numbers are out.\u00a0 So here goes.<\/p>\n

Starting from the bottom up, here\u2019s the list of the most popular rides in the US for the first half of 2024:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Twenty<\/strong>: Well, this is no surprise. The Subaru Outback<\/strong> remains consistently the choice of outdoorsy folks. With its SUV-like lean (let\u2019s not dare call it a wagon) and its ability to handle some decently gnarly terrain, this model keeps holding strong in the top twenty.<\/p>\n

\"Subaru<\/p>\n

Nineteen<\/strong>: This one isn\u2019t even a car. Surprisingly, the nineteenth most-purchased vehicle in the past six months is the Ford Transit<\/strong>. Quite popular for its adaptability, this work van has been known to ferry all sorts of tools and materials from point A to point B.\u00a0 With a 28% increase in sales since last year, this van has sold 82, 164 units so far this half-year.<\/p>\n

Eighteen<\/strong>. Up 55% from last year, we\u2019ve got the Nissan Sentra<\/strong>. Only second to Nissan\u2019s bestseller (the Rogue), this compact ride is one of the most affordable in its category and has recently undergone a bit of a makeover. Which could account for its rising sales.<\/p>\n

Seventeen<\/strong>. With 90,463 units purchased since January, the Chevrolet Trax <\/strong>coming out strong. This year\u2019s model boasts a lower sticker price than the previous year, and coupled with several design and safety enhancements, this SUV is clearly winning people over.<\/p>\n

\"Chevy<\/p>\n

Sixteen<\/strong>. Just beating the Chevy is the Hyundai Tucson<\/strong>, having sold 92,146 pieces so far. While this compact SUV dropped about 8% in sales this year, it is still the most popular Hyundai and continues to remain a bestseller.<\/p>\n

Fifteen. <\/strong>Subaru has made little to no changes to this year\u2019s Forester, <\/strong>but it still takes its place in the top fifteen. Which we think says a lot about the loyalty folks have to this model.<\/p>\n

Fourteen. <\/strong>The Ford Explorer<\/strong> takes number spot number fourteen for the first half of 2024 with 104, 803 SUV\u2019s sold. Another vehicle with no updates, but with a steady purchase place in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Thirteen. <\/strong>The second Chevrolet <\/strong>to make the list, the Equinox<\/strong> finds itself at spot thirteen with 106,455 pieces making their ways into garages across the nation. Fully loaded, its price tag is still pretty attractive, which probably has a lot to do with its popularity.<\/p>\n

\"Jeep<\/p>\n

Twelve. <\/strong>While mostly unchanged for the year 2024, the Jeep Grand Cherokee <\/strong>has still already moved 106,752 units. And that\u2019s with <\/em>15% decrease in sales compared to last year!<\/p>\n

Can we take a moment here to recognize how the majority of this list is populated by SUV\u2019s. \u00a0Okay, back to the countdown!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Eleven: <\/strong>Coming in at number eleven is\u2026oh my\u2026a sedan! Toyota Corolla <\/strong>boasts a robust number of units sold this first half of 2024. Up by 25% since last year, this model has warmed the hearts 121,991 folks in the State.<\/p>\n

Okay, we\u2019re in the top ten now! Is anyone else excited??<\/p>\n

Ten. <\/strong>The tenth most popular vehicle in the U.S. this year is another sedan. With sales seeing an increase of 38%, the Honda Civic<\/strong> has moved 129,788 units over the past six months.<\/p>\n

\"Honda<\/p>\n

Nine. <\/strong>Number nine brings us back to the SUV, with the up-styled Nissan Rogue<\/strong> selling 141,160 units, despite the 5% decrease in sales this year.<\/p>\n

Eight. <\/strong>In at number eight with a 4% increase in sales is our first pickup truck on the list. The GMC Sierra <\/strong>(the 1500, 2500, and 3500 models) boasts 148,785 units for the first half of 2024.<\/p>\n

Seven. <\/strong>If you\u2019ve been in an Uber at all this year, number seven will be no surprise to you. Toyota Camry<\/strong>, a steadily, best-selling sedan, has sold 155,242 pieces already.<\/p>\n

Six. <\/strong>This one gives us mixed feelings. Down by 20% since last year, you\u2019d think that the Ram Pickup <\/strong>was struggling. And yet it\u2019s sold 179,526 units since January 2024.<\/p>\n

Top Fiiiiiive\u2026.<\/p>\n

Five<\/strong>. Honda CR-V<\/strong> coming in hot with a cool 196,204 cars sold so far. Interesting to note that more than half of these were the hybrid model.<\/p>\n

\"Tesla\"<\/p>\n

Four. <\/strong>And speaking of electricity, Tesla Model Y<\/strong> quietly slides into fourth place with a sleek 209,000 EV\u2019s humming into driveways across the country.<\/p>\n

Three. <\/strong>Up 33% from last year the Toyota Rav4 <\/strong>clearly has a place at the cool kids table with an impressive 248,295 SUV\u2019s sold over the first half of this year.<\/p>\n

Two. <\/strong>Our runner-up for the first six months of 2024 is the Chevrolet Silverado<\/strong>. And maybe 275,692 units sold have something to do with how often they find themselves in country music songs?!<\/p>\n

Drumroll please!<\/p>\n

\"Ford<\/p>\n

ONE. <\/strong>And the number one best-selling automobile for the first half of 2024 is the Ford F-Series. <\/strong>Unsurprising, since this model has remained one of the most popular vehicles for the past several years. And with 352,406 units sold, who can argue with that?<\/p>\n
