Traditionally, drivers will put off the mundane to-dos at their local DMV for as long as they can before a driver\u2019s license expires or a car registration needs to be renewed. Going to the DMV requires carving out a few hours in your day, waiting for your turn, hoping you have the right documents with you, and in the past few years even making an appointment before you go.<\/p>\n<p>Lately, South Florida\u2019s DMVs have gotten \u201cabsolutely absurd,\u201d according to Sen. Shevrin Jones D-Miami Gardens pleading with Tallahassee to \u201cget to the bottom of long lines.\u201d Just this past Tuesday, the Miami Gardens DMV location was so busy, employees asked drivers with appointments to come back on another day.<\/p>\n<p>Even getting an appointment is a huge hassle. Drivers are testifying to being online way past midnight and constantly monitoring the state\u2019s website to be able to book an appointment. Dozens of people are camping outside the Pembroke Pines DMV location way before sunrise to save a spot in an ever-growing line, hoping to get a walk-in appointment. Most leave disgruntled.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>South Florida drivers are told the long wait times are due to new out-of-state arrivals and are hiring extra driver\u2019s license examiners.
