The BMV has four employees dedicated to sorting through all the personalized plate applications looking for violations<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ohioan drivers took notice, covering 2022\u2019s turmoil<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Last year centered around political drama, supply-chain disruption, recession, inflation, and massive tech layoffs. In fact, the tech industry increased its layoffs by 649% in 2022 \u2014 the highest since the dot com bubble according to The Challenger Report. Some Ohio drivers tried to make the best of it all, requesting personalized license plates with \u201ccolorful\u201d language.<\/p>\n

If the Ohio BMV deemed vanity plate applications profane, sexually explicit or meant to provoke a violent response, the license plate was rejected. In fact, any inappropriate combination of letters and numbers was denied. From bathroom jokes like \u201cPOO BUTT,\u201d to F-bombs, to \u201cSMT A55,\u201d and AF additions like \u201cLATE AF\u201d were rejected in 2022.

In 2021, 828 Ohio personalized license plates were banned<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

More than two dozen variations of “F*** Biden” made the BMV\u2019s list of rejected Ohio plates. The list even includes the specific dates the license plates were denied. For instance, \u201cFQRONA\u201d was deemed profane November 18, 2022. \u201cHOWDYHO\u201d refused August 10, 2022. Hate was everywhere too. “H8 MY ST8,” “H8URFCE,” and “IH8OHIO”\u2014all banned.<\/p>\n
