In 2017, there were over 4,500 crashes resulting in 54 fatalities involving aggressive driving.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">What is aggressive driving?<\/span><\/strong><br \/>Aggressive driving violations involve a mix of at least three behaviors endangering people or property. The Aggressive Driving Prevention Program lists 16 crash or citation factors, but the most common examples include:<br \/>\u2022 Traffic light violations and speeding<br \/>\u2022 Tailgating, or following another vehicle too closely<br \/>\u2022 Overtaking and passing another vehicle<br \/>\u2022 Failing to yield, or obey stop sign<br \/>\u2022 Driving recklessly or one-way violations<br \/>\u2022 Failing to keep right of center<br \/>\u2022 Driving on laned road<br \/>\u2022 Driving too fast for conditions.<br \/>\u2022 Failing to obey traffic signs, signals, or officer<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"is-style-default\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"><strong>Most crashes, including injuries, happen on Tuesdays and Fridays<\/strong><br \/><\/span>Aggressive driving crashes in Maryland are most common in October and November, with 2pm to 6pm accounting for the largest proportion. Injury crashes involving this type of driving behavior increases in May and June. Fatal crashes tend to be in October, November, and March and more common Fridays to Sundays.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"is-style-cnvs-paragraph-callout\">Over half of aggressive driving deaths happen on the weekend.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Who\u2019s mostly taking part in aggressive driving behavior?<br \/><\/span><\/strong>An aggressive driver, according to the NHTSA\u2019s data aggressive driving is mostly practiced by younger drivers\u2013specifically 21 to 29 years old and male. Earlier data showed that 4 out of 5 aggressive drivers were male. This demographic was involved in 27% of crashes that involved aggressive driving. 29% of them were killed. WHAT&#8217;S NEXT?<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"is-style-default\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"><strong>What\u2019s the penalty for an aggressive driver?<\/strong><br \/><\/span>Generally-speaking, legal consequences for aggressive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etags.com\/app\/md?utm_source=blog_article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">driving in MD<\/a> can range in severity. They may include simple\u00a0fines, citations, or traffic tickets. Some serious cases can involve more serious misdemeanor charges, resulting in heavier\u00a0fines, loss of driving privileges, and\/or some\u00a0jail\u00a0time.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"is-style-cnvs-paragraph-callout\">Up to $500 and 5 points against driver&#8217;s license.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">According to Maryland lawyers, a person found guilty of\u00a0aggressive driving\u00a0behavior in MD\u00a0is subject to monetary\u00a0fines\u00a0and demerit points against their license.
