Moving to a new home can be both demanding and exciting. Aside from all the other things you must do, up-dating your address with Alaska's Division of Motor Vehicles is important to make certain legal documents like your license and registration reflect the updated address. Each state mandates that you update your address within 10-30 days.

In Alaska, you need to update each individual license for, boats, cars, trailers, and other types of vehicles. Updating one record does not currently update all of your Alaska DMV records. In order to update the address on your license(s), it must be done in writing by sending this form by mail to one of the locations listed on the form or turning in at a DMV office.

In order to update the address information for your vehicle's registration and title, you are required to have an Alaska driver license or ID card to be eligible to update your address online using the Alaska DMV's Online Address Change System. If you receive an error message when attempting to change your address for your vehicle or vessel title or registation, this may mean that your license is not linked to the specific record you wish to update. If this occurs, you should contact your local DMV to request the address update. If it is time for you to renew your vehicle's registration or license plate, you must wait for a reply from the Alaska DMV online system before moving forward.

Provide the following information to request a change of address:

License Plate Number(s) of all vehicles you own: Car, Truck, motorcycle, trailer, snow-machine, ATV and/or boat
Name of Registered Owner(s)
Current Mailing Address and new or current Residence (Physical) Address
If you have an Alaska driver license or state ID, please provide your legal name and month/day of birth
If your new address is not in Alaska, please provide the reason for the out of state address. (Military, college student, vacation, moved, etc.)

For vehicle title and registration address changes, the change of address request form linked above should be:

Scanned and emailed to doa.dmv.webmaster@alaska.gov with the heading "Alaska Address Change Information"
Sent by mail addressed to State of Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles to one of the four locations listed on the form
Or delivered in person at any DMV location (view link above)
